When asked to submit article pitches, are we supposed to submit a short one-sentence idea or come up with the title and write a blurb?
Dear Pitching Rookie,
It’s best to submit a hed, plus a quick blurb (two to three sentences max) clearly explaining what you’re going to write about. In that blurb, state the reason the story is timely (are there new studies available/new interesting statistics?) and the experts you plan on interviewing. This quick blurb should show that you did your research. You can also state where the story will live (what section or column).
