Next Stop: Your Magazine Dream Job

Editor-Approved Tote Bags to Rock This Spring

By Katherine Louie

Editors have a lot on their plates. Between press previews, media days, assigning and editing stories, conducting interviews, and the occasional freelance project, they’re never not busy. How do editors manage to keep it all together? The key is staying organized.

A great way to make sure you’re always organized is to invest in a bag that does it all. A good bag should be versatile enough to hold your work gear and still look professional. We found five commuter friendly bags that take you from work to post-work activities without skipping a beat. It’s time to finally ditch that old tote bag you got at summer camp.

Le Pliage Tote Bag, $145

This minimalistic tote bagconstructed entirely of nylonis one of the most versatile and durable bags out there. The roomy interior will hold your notebook, laptop, makeup bag, umbrella, and a change of clothes with extra room to spare. Major bonus: when you’re not using it, it can fold down to the size of a paperback book. And did we mention that it’s waterproof?

The Day Magazine Tote, $165

If you’re looking for an elegant and sophisticated tote that won’t break the bank, Everlane’s Day Magazine tote is a great option. The magazine tote is handcrafted from Italian leather in Florence, Italy, and is available in five beautiful colors. Our personal favorite is Marine, a deep blue that will add a regal touch to any outfit.

Denim Maptote, $26

Made of 100% denim cotton, these sturdy totes each boast a different location—with a corresponding map—emblazoned on the front. The main pocket is surprisingly large (so you can stash all your stuff), and the hand drawn map is a great conversation starter at meetings. Fun fact: the fabric used for the bag is cut, sewn, and printed in Brooklyn, NY!

TMRW Studio Antonio Large Tote Bag, $348

If you’re looking to splurge on a new bag for spring, the TMRW Studio tote is the way to go. The contemporary design of this tote will instantly elevate any outfit (even if you’re wearing jeans). On the inside, there’s a removable suede pouch and three slip pockets for your valuables. The long strap on the outside allows you to wear this as a crossbody bag, too.

Monochrome Bucket Bag, $29.90

In bright canary yellow, this is a statement bag in every sense of the word. The rectangular base and hefty drawstring allow you to fit all of your belongings inside while still looking fabulous. Who says you can’t have it all? P.S. – At $29.90, you can afford to buy more than one.
