Next Stop: Your Magazine Dream Job

There Are Three Spots Left for Ed’s Famous Edit Test Class

Have you taken a million edit tests without landing the gig? It’s not you—it’s that you don’t know the secrets to giving editors what they want. Find out what they are. Chandra Turner, Ed’s founder & president who’s been an editor at Parents, CosmoGirl, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour is teaching a 2-day class on how to prep for an entry-level edit test (editorial assistant, assistant editor, associate editor, staff writer, etc.).

Part 1 (Monday, August 7 ): How to study the mag or website, how to edit the test piece, what they are looking for when they ask for a critique or for your ideas, and more.

Part 2 (Tuesday, August 8): Learn how to tailor your test to the specific mag/site you’re applying to and how to write display copy and subject lines so good that it’ll sell a future employer on YOU. The little touches editors expect on tests, and the conventions of following up after an edit test.

We’ll also provide sample edit tests for you to take home.
