(After all, the question “What podcasts are you listening to?” is becoming just as common as “What books are you reading?”.)
Tap into the trend as a way to expand your knowledge, and perhaps even get ahead in your career, with a range of smart journalism podcasts that offer an in-depth look at the latest headlines, taking you inside the newsroom and beyond.
Co-produced by Longform and Atavist, this weekly podcast features interviews with nonfiction writers, covering everything from their career paths to their unique approaches to storytelling (including some of the stories they’ve written along the way). Recent guests include BuzzFeed senior investigative reporter Jason Leopold and technology journalist and Recode co-founder Kara Swisher (their archives also include an interview with Hillary Clinton).
Inside the Times
Ever wonder what goes on inside The New York Times? Wonder no more, thanks to this behind-the-scenes podcast, in which host Susan Lehman interviews Times journalists on their stories.
This weekly podcast, which is run by CNN and hosted by Brian Stelter, takes a closer look at how journalists go about doing their jobs, along with how the media can impact the stories they cover. There have also been some interesting episodes on how journalism can push change.
