Next Stop: Your Magazine Dream Job

Talent Fairy Featured Opp: Book of the Month / Managing Editor, Content

Hello my talented friends. Here’s what the Talent Fairy has up her magic sleeve this month. If you are a member of After Magazines (you know if you are), please say so in your application!

MANAGING EDITOR, CONTENT

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Are you a book lover and an editor?

On behalf of Book of the Month, The Talent Fairy is looking for an experienced and exquisite editor who has a passion for popular fiction. In this newly created role, you will lead the brand’s original content initiative, including but not limited to launching a regular newsletter with perspectives, essays, and author interviews that women who love to read will want to read. You will work closely with the editorial (book selection), creative, and tech teams to create original content products that make BOTM a destination for millennial women.

This job is for editorial purists and word lovers (read: tracking analytics, A/B testing, and chasing the 24 news cycle is not a prerequisite). You should revel in the art of shaping a story to make it fresh and fascinating. Bonus if you’ve got bite — prefer someone who has a strong voice with an edge and isn’t afraid to go there. (Watch the commercial spot below, to get a sense of the BOTM voice.) You should also have that magic touch that enhances the voice of the writers and authors you work with — and have contacts with freelancers who can bring fresh perspective and POV to the brand. Sound like you? Be sure to tell us how in your cover letter!
