Nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by. In case we haven’t met in person, a little bit about myself:
I am a former magazine editor and media executive who has successfully pivoted to a new career I love: connecting people to careers they love. (Read all about my pivot.) It’s actually not a new thing for me. I have been connecting people to jobs and companies to candidates for decades, just because it was fun. And I got a rush from it. I was often referred to as the industry’s fairy godmother because I helped launch so many careers and connected so many people. In 2019, I made that labor of love my full career with the launch of Talent Fairy.
Talent Fairy connects companies with creative people to build their content or brand storytelling. I leverage the vast network of creative talent I built throughout my career and the insights I gained as a content creator myself for 20+ years (at Hearst, Conde Nast, Meredith, and Scholastic). I have recruited, hired, and developed the editorial skills of countless editors, writers, and designers. Unlike other talent recruiters, I’m working from the inside. I still edit and consult for select brands. I know the talent because I am the talent. We live in the same world; we eat at the same virtual lunch table.
I built my network through my organization, Ed2010, the website you are on right now. I launched Ed in 1997 as a group of whippersnappers looking to land their first editorial gigs and turned it into a vibrant, award-winning career website and community of and for media professionals. (More on my back story and Ed here.) Over those years, Ed has helped thousands and thousands of people reach their dream jobs through our job board, campus chapters, events, and other resources. And I personally have counseled more whippersnappers than I could ever count, springboarding them into their first internships and jobs and coaching them as they climbed the career ladder. Now, I help them pivot into executive-level roles and adjacent careers where they build content for non-media brands, nonprofits, and agencies. After all these years, I still get a rush out of making that perfect match. There’s just something magical about it.
Cheers, Chandra Turner
