Oops! Turns out you took on more than you could handle, or maybe something (or five things) came up, and now you’re wondering how in the world you’re going to muster up the strength and vocabulary to write seven blogs (or more!) in one night.
To keep you from crawling under the covers and admitting defeat we rounded up eight high-energy, low-yawn-potential songs to get you fired up and help you churn out those words. Read, write, and rock on.
- “Turn Down for What” by DJ Snake and Lil Jon
Let this song serve as the kick-off reminder that you took on this project (or projects) for good reason, whether it be that you’ve been clamoring to write for a publication about the latest and greatest in fashion or need a little extra padding to help subsidize your Seamless habit (or both). You wanted to do this, and now you’ve finally got your chance.
- “Whistle (While You Work It)” by Katy Tiz
This song may be about a more traditional relationship, but that doesn’t mean it can’t apply to the one you have with your craft or your editor. “Never let ‘em see you down” by picking your pen up and staying positive while jotting down what could be the outline for your best work yet.
- “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor
Losing focus? Crank up this encouraging number (and perhaps do a brisk walk around the room) to get your heart beating and yourself back on track. In the end, you’ll be even more grateful for “the thrill of the fight.”
- “Under Pressure” by Queen
Acknowledge what you’re feeling, whether it’s battling writer’s block or looming deadlines, with this awakening song from Queen.
(Bonus: Tune into these Queen favorites – “Another One Bites the Dust” when you’ve finished one of your tasks or “We Are the Champions” once you’ve finished completely.)
- “Work B**ch” by Britney Spears
Whether you want an actual Maserati or just a fancy byline (who says you can’t have both?), let this song serve as a jumpstart for when you feel your progress waning. If you feel things are really getting dire, just remember that come tomorrow you’ll kick yourself for missing your deadline; not for working too hard. Add a bonus Britney track like “Stronger” to get over the productivity hump.
- “The Power” by Snap
In the end, you and only you have the power to make your dreams a reality so stop making excuses, take a quick drink, snack, or Gchat break, and get back to business.
- “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa
We recommend this one for dancing breaks because it’s nearly impossible to sit still when this beat starts. Hopefully it will provide you with some much-needed motivation to keep working toward that finish line once you sit back down.
- “One More Time” by Daft Punk
Almost there? Play this song from Daft Punk to prepare yourself for the last stretch of stringing words together. Once you’re done, prepare to celebrate (even if it’s with some much-needed sleep).
