Director, Ed’s Buddy System
For Lindsay, fate came in a package with a pink bow: a Playskool recorder for her fifth birthday. She interviewed party guests, reported on the outfits and conversations of strangers in her grocery store, and once she was old enough to read magazines, she tore them apart, marked them up with ideas, and became determined she’d one day be part of the glossies.
Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Lindsay moved to New York City three months after graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She brought her degree, two suitcases, savings, and the will to succeed. Three weeks later, she managed to land her first job and a tiny studio uptown (or ahem, Harlem).
For the last ten years, she’s contributed to an array of magazines and sites including: Women’s Health, REDBOOK, Engagement 101, YourTango, Bustle, The Huffington Post, Thought Catalog, eHarmony’s blog, Fit Pregnancy, Parents and more. She also has a successful dating and relationships blog, Confessions of a Love Addict, that has a large following around the world, thousands of subscribers and hundreds of thousands of unique visitors a year. The New York Post named her New York City’s most eligible single in January 2014. She is part of the HerCampus Blogger Network and spoke at their summer conference in New York on “How to Be a Powerhouse Blogger.” Her blog is currently under representation by the James Fitzgerald Agency in New York to be turned into a book.
She was previously the Editorial Assistant for The New York Enterprise Report, a magazine for business owners and entrepreneurs and the Editor-at-Large for the online women’s magazine, ChickSpeak.com. Then she was the associate parenting and love editor for iVillage.com for three years until it folded (RIP!).
Currently, Lindsay is the Editorial Director for ClassPass, managing their blog.
3 Things You Should Know: 1. Lindsay started the Ed2010 Buddy System in 2011 because she knows how hard it can be not only to break into magazines, but find your way in New York too. If you’re interested, apply here. 2. Lindsay loves to volunteer and even started a non-profit in high school, SOUL: Serving Others Under Love, that’s still active today. 3. With her freelance work, she can write about dating and then turn around and write about diapers – it’s a fun life!
3 Things You Really Didn’t Need to Know: 1. She’s a big foodie. In no particular order, her favorite foods are bacon, avocado, dairy-free ice cream, steak, and guac. 2. If you search #LucyLiberty on Instagram or Twitter, you’ll see more photos of her (adorable!) pup, Lucy. 3. She’s a wannabe yogi (finally can do a headstand!) and an aspiring boxer (okay, not really – but she can throw a mean right hook as a South Paw!)
