Shelby graduated from West Virginia University’s P.I. Reed School of Journalism (now known as Reed School of Media) in December 2013. During her time at WVU, Shelby minored in Women’s and Gender Studies and was the President for WVU’s chapter of Ed on Campus her senior year.
After being introduced to Ed during her first days on campus, Shelby was hooked. She immediately joined and made it her goal to become the president one day, and bring the club to NYC to make connections! From being a member,Shelby moved on to being secretary, co-president and yes, president! Before graduating Shelby took a photography class (where she did some serious photo stories including photographing the life of a heroine addict) and was an editorial intern for her local magazine, WV Living Magazine during summer 2013.
Shelby is currently a lifestyle assistant for American Baby/ Parents magazine, where she enjoys using baby jargon Monday through Friday.
3 Things You Should Know: 1. She was born and raised in “Wild and Wonderful,” West Virginia (home of the delicious pepperoni roll). 2. She believes her niece, Scarlett, was her good luck charm, for she received an interview with American Baby not even a week after she was born. 3. Her goals include: Being an editor at a young girls’ magazine, (because she wants to be a voice for young women) and to write a book before the age of 30, (she’s already started jotting stuff down!)
3 things you really didn’t need to know: 1. Her dream car is a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle (light blue, please!), and she plans on driving away in that on her wedding day. 2. She is obsessed with Jimmy Fallon (and will meet him one day!) and her west-highland terrier, Lexi Nova. 3. She plans her meals around whatever condiment(s) she is craving. (Hmmm, spaghetti sauce or french fries with ranch?)
