Ariana Finlayson

March 25, 2009 by Chandra Turner

Ariana Finlayson
Web Features Editor

Ariana Finlayson
Features & Social Media Director

Ariana first heard about Ed back in 2006 from Ed’s Web Director, Christie Griffin, which was uber helpful since she had been cold-calling magazines for internship opportunities. Using Ed’s resources, she landed internships at CosmoGirl, Parenting, and Cosmopolitan. She became an official Ed staffer while interning for Chandra Turner at CosmoGirl and started her Ed duties as part of the 60-Minute Mentors program. After graduating from Hofstra University and freelancing for a little over a year at Hearst Digital Media, she landed an Associate Editor role at RealBeauty.com, and then went on to UsMagazine.com (Us Weekly) as a Staff Editor. Today, she works at Marina Maher Communications where she leads COVERGIRL’s social media strategy.

3 things to know about her: 1. She landed her first internship in the beauty department at CosmoGirl, despite having never worn makeup or stepped into a Sephora. 2. After being dead-set on print and having four magazine internships, she ended up in digital and then social media marketing—and is loving it. 3. She loves brunch. A lot.

3 things you really didn’t need to know: 1. She has a very unhealthy yet healthy obsession with kale and cold-pressed juice. 2. She’s a self-professed pro at curling her hair and is happy to give lessons. 3. She’s very proud of her cat, Murray, who won People Pets’ “Cutest of the Cute” contest for May 2012.
